Discovering Teck Whye Shopping Centre
The Teck Whye Shopping Centre is the heart of Teck Whye. Bustling with affordable eateries, local businesses, a fresh market and uncles drinking kopi at the coffee shop.

Although close to neighbourhood shopping centres like Lot One and Bukit Panjang Plaza, Teck Whye Shopping Centre is different as it offers an exploration of tradition and culture. Tucked in between modern barber shops and brightly-lit signs are traditional snack shops, tailors, TCMs and a traditional market selling fresh produce, amongst many others.

Warrior | Shoe Shop
As a primary school student, my parents refused to spend an absurd amount of money on school shoes, knowing that we’d probably need a new pair at the start of every year. This shoe shop in Teck Whye Shopping Centre has been around since I can remember! From Converse and Onitsuka knock-offs to slippers and rubber shoes, it really has everything you need, and more.
Note: It’s an acquired scent, but I love the smell of rubber shoes when walking past this shop. It’s nostalgic!

Eye Zone Elite Optical | Optometrist
Another OG shop located in the busy shopping centre is the optometrist that has been around for 28 years. Placed right next to the Warrior shoe shop, it’s the neighbourhood’s go-to optometrist. They have a wide-range of frames, from $38 to over $200 for the more stylish picks. Having just made a new pair of glasses, the service is fast and accurate – with over 500 positive reviews on Google, and a rating of 4.8.
Aesthetic Florist & Trading | Florist
If you’re in need of fresh blooms for any occasion, look no further than Teck Whye Shopping Centre. A family-run business that boasts experience and professionalism, their selection of flowers and plants make it a must-visit for those hoping to start a home garden of their own.

U&Me Tea | Bubble Tea & Waffles
Quite possibly the best find for bubble tea and waffles in Teck Whye Shopping Centre. This shop has been here for years, serving both young (talking pre-primary school children) to the young at heart. Bubble tea can be considered as a typical young Singaporean’s comfort drink – often heading to shops after school for a cup of milk tea, or even blue coral (iykyk).
We love U&Me Tea’s waffles because they’re crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Just the perfect snack for a pick-me-up at any time of day.

Although these neighbourhood shops can be found across many estates, what truly stands out is their longevity—many have been operating since the 1990s. Even as the area undergoes gentrification and modern upgrades, it’s remarkable that these businesses continue to thrive alongside contemporary amenities.
What’s one business that has persisted over time in your local neighbourhood shopping centre?
